How To: The Wheel of Life

I have been undertaking a coaching course and with this I have learnt a little bit more information on the wheel of life which I thought some of you might find interesting if you are looking to set yourself some life goals.

The Wheel of Life is a great exercise to do if you are looking to set goals or make improvements in your life. It outlines some key topics or sections of your life which you analyse and then it can help you work out where you need to be set goals in order to bring back up certain areas of your life.

Please feel free to take part in this exercise as you are reading through today's blog post by downloading a FREE template that I have created to help you assess your life. You can download the template here.

So first things first, I wanted to share with you some areas in your life that you could assess / analyse. I have included them below:

  • Career & Business

  • Family & Friends

  • Relationships

  • Personal Development

  • Hobbies

  • Finances

  • Spiritual

  • Health and Fitness

So once you have the areas in your life that you would like to focus on, I would suggest following the below step by step guide that will help you assess your life and the areas you could make goals on to improve.

  1. Mark each area out of 10 (1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest). You could also include annotations and reasons as to why you have marked each area the score that you have

  2. Sit back and look over what areas you have marked low.

  3. Pick one area to solely focus on and that aligns with you at the moment.

  4. Set yourself an end goal and then make a note of the 4 stepping stones you want to work towards that will help you achieve your goal.

  5. Set a deadline for both the stepping stones and the end goal so you have something affirmative to work towards

  6. Check in with your progress every week to see how you are progressing and if anything needs to change.

By having the Wheel of Life as a basis for your goal setting, it will help you have more focus on your goals rather than setting goals with no clear focus.
